The NVIDIA RTX 3090 graphics card is no joke. It has so much power, must users won’t even come close to pushing it. It is easily the best performing card as of April 2021, which of course comes at a price. Generally, we would recommend the 3080 to most users since the can run 1440p and 4k just fine. The 3090 can run 4k on max settings without a sweat, and even play at 8k. So what games do we see fit to play with such a powerful gpu?
Note, we recommend these games assuming they will be played at 4k or up. If you are playing at 1440p, we would recommend an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080.
Horizon: Zero Dawn
Horizon: Zero Dawn overall is an amazing game. What makes it more amazing is its impressive graphics and atmosphere. This is a definite must play if you have a 3090 (or even 3080) at 4k. Zero Dawn features RTX features such as Raytracing and DLSS. Pair the 3090 with a Ryzen 9 or i9, and you’ll be able to get high frames at 4k no problem.
Metro Exodus
Metro Exodus is another game which takes advantage of RTX Raytracing. With this setting enabled, it truly changes the Metro environment. The game developers have gone the extra mile to make sure that having RTX enabled really does make a difference. Generally, all Metro games have been benchmarks for gaming GPUs, and this one was not missed. The already immersive environment is only made more immersive with the use of RTX on a 3090.
Crysis Remastered
Crysis games, similar to Metro games, have always been a sort of benchmark for performance. Crysis 3 Remastered is included in that. Although the original Crysis 3 is older, Remastered definitely shows next-gen just how hard it is to run. With a 3090, Crysis 3 Remastered is another must play.
Cyberpunk 2077
If you’re willing to look past the sea of issues with Cyberpunk 2077 performance issues, we definitely recommend playing this game with a 3090. It has stellar graphics, and a decent RTX look. The game is already hard to run, so it needs something which can handle it.
Red Dead Redemption 2
Red Dead Redemption 2 came to PC recently. As usual, PC shows the true potential of a game and its graphics. Something that console just can’t do. If you have a 3090, or planning to get one, we absolutely recommend trying out RD2 on your system. Although RD2 doesn’t support NVIDIA RTX, there are mods which offer RayTracing. The game already looked impressive, but when adding mods to make it look even better, it really steps up to the next level.
